Release Notes for EnFuzion 8.1 This is a minor EnFuzion release. The EnFuzion 8.1 expands supported platforms with Mac OS X and brings more than 50 other new features, improvements and error fixes while maintaining backward compatibility with previous releases. The latest release build number for EnFuzion 8.1 is 8.1.43. A Summary of New Features and Improvements in the EnFuzion 8.1 Release - environment variables are saved to ENVIRONMENT.txt, when a script command fails on a remote node - new Nodeserver arguments: "-wd" sets the working directory "-tl" sets the execution time limit - the daemon mode is implemented for the Dispatcher and the Nodeserver on Windows - new "localhost" node type - the user profile is loaded on Windows, before the Nodeserver is started - Nodeservers can be started at the boot time on Windows and Linux - installation of the Nodeserver as a daemon on Linux - new service.config file on Windows nodes for service configuration options: "loadprofile" loads the user profile "node" starts a node server at the boot time - new enfprotectpass arguments: "-i" specifies an input file "-s" specifies the standard output - the "cd" plan command is implemented also on the EnFuzion root computer - configuration files are preserved during an EnFuzion update, new files have suffix ".new" - the number of concurrent jobs is automatically set to the number of CPUs on Linux, Windows, Mac OS X and Solaris - new zero configuration feature for nodes on the same network - new commport option in node.config - new commport option in root.options - setup supports "-ignore" to ignore upgrade errors - support for Mac OS X - a run is terminated, if it fails on all available nodes - improved support for remote nodes - enfcmd options add leading 0s to the run name. For example, 11 can be used instead of 0000000011 - the Preparator handles set commands in the plan file - new node log events: node created, node removed - node user has been changed from anonymous to None - the default connectdelay on nodes have been changed from 300s to 600s - user files are not deleted in the single run mode, ENFCLEANUP_LIMIT has no effect in the single run mode. In the multi run mode, ENFCLEANUP_LIMIT works as before - when a node is started with the WindowsNT method, username and password are encrypted when sent over the network - installation log files are created also in the target installation directory - the default job priority on Windows is set to 5, which is one level above screensavers - the default job priority on Linux/Unix is set to nice level 10, which is lower than regular processes - the dispatcher checks every minute, if the there are resources available on the root machine The EnFuzion 8.1 release is backward compatible with the EnFuzion 8.0 release. User files, configuration files and programs that use the EnFuzion network API from EnFuzion 8.0 will work without modifications with EnFuzion 8.1. EnFuzion roots and nodes must be upgraded at the same time, since 8.0 and 8.1 will not inter operate in the same configuration. The protocol between the EnFuzion root and nodes has been improved to increase system robustness. As a result, mixed environments with EnFuzion 8.0 and 8.1 can appear to work, but might exhibit erratic behavior.
